Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, Inc.

WE, the mothers, wives, daughters and sisters of Union Soldiers, Sailors and Marines who aided in putting down the Rebellion, do, with other loyal women, unite to establish a permanent association for the objects herein set forth, and through a National Convention do ordain and enact the following Rules and Regulations for its government:


This association shall be known as the National Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, Inc.


Permanent headquarters and the Grand Army of the Republic Museum are established at 629 South Seventh Street, Springfield, Illinois 62703, telephone number (217) 522-4373, which were built and are maintained by members and friends of the National Woman's Relief Corps.


Section 1. To especially perpetuate the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic and its heroic dead.

Section 2. To assist such Veterans of all wars of the United States of America as need our help and protection, to extend needful aid to their widows and orphans, and to assure them of sympathy and friends. To cherish and emulate the deeds of all loyal women who rendered loving service to our country in her hour of peril.


Section 3. To maintain true allegiance to the United State of America; to inculcate lessons of patriotism and love of country among our children and in the communities in which we live; and encourage the spread of universal liberty and equal rights to all.

The several constituted bodies of this association shall consist of:

1.    Subordinate organizations to be known as ... Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, Inc.

2.   State organizations to be known as Department of ... Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, Inc.

3.    A National organization to be known as the National Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, Inc.

 

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Women of good moral character and correct deportment, who have not given aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States of America, and are citizens of the United States of America, who would perpetuate the principles to which this association stands pledged, and who have attained the age of thirteen years, shall be eligible to membership in the Woman's Relief Corps.
